Educating on the conservation of British owls About Owl Conservationist, Speaker and Photographer Ian McGuire - Wild Owl
Through my work I meet thousands of people every year. As a business and not a registered charity, I charge for my services.  However, with this much public contact I am very pleased to help raise money for a few selected charities through the generosity of my audiences.

I have included this page on my site for transparency and so that contributors to my collection boxes can
track the progress of fundraising
About Owl Conservationist, Speaker and Photographer Ian McGuire - Wild Owl
In 2008 through to 2009 my audiences donated over £1200 to the World Owl Trust.

The Trust is based at Muncaster Castle, in Cumbria and not only has a captive breeding programme for endangered world owls, also carries out a tremendous amount of conservation work in various parts of the UK, and campaigns for habitats for owls.

My chosen charity for 2010 is BUST. I chose this charity because firstly it is chaired by a friend of mine, but also, because many of the people in my audiences are ladies over the age of 50, and I felt this was an very appropriate charity to promote, as breast cancer has no doubt touched the lives of many of these ladies and their friends in one way or another.

BUST, the Breast Cancer Unit Support Trust, is a Bristol based charity founded by patients for patients to support the work of the Frenchay Hospital Breast Care Centre.

The Frenchay Breast Care Centre has more than 12,000 outpatient appointments a year, including a number of men. It was established as the first Centre of its kind in the South West and has twice been awarded the prestigious Charter Mark to recognise the excellent service it provides. The Centre was a leader in the establishment of “One Stop Clinics” where patients with suspected breast disease have diagnostic tests performed during a clinic, enabling most of them to receive the results before they go home.

The 2006 report of the NHS National Cancer Peer Review Programme shows that the reviewers were extremely impressed with the Frenchay Breast Care Team and its commitment to sustained service improvement.

BUST is pleased to support the important work of this excellent team by raising money to support innovation and purchase of new technology, such as Digital Mammography, before it is available through the NHS.
Since 1991, BUST has spent nearly £600,000 on equipment and resources to support innovation at the Frenchay Breast Care Centre.
